EC Artist shinned at the 20th SAMA Awards

The most exciting moment at this year’s South African Music Awards (Sama) was the representation of Eastern Cape artists who showed the country that they are winners. East London-born singer and guitarist Zahara, Mthatha-born rapper iFani and PE born songbird Zonke Dikana made EC people very proud for their achievements.

Zahara won the award for best selling Album of the year in her absence; iFani won the award for best Rap Album and Zonke Dikana for best African Adult Album and best Live DVD. The popular Kwaito group Mafikizolo scooped everything collected a whopping 6 Sama Awards for best Pop Album, best-selling Mobile Music Download, best Ring Back Tone, best-selling Full Track Download, Duo or Group of the year and best Collaboration which features May D.

Other EC winners were Port Alfred –born J-Something from the group Mi Casa, with their group winning an award for best Dance Album, and Alice-born singer Nakhane Toure for best Alternative Album.SA music legends LadySmith Black Mambazo had the honour of receiving the International Achievement Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award. The group impressed the crowd by performing songs from their most popular hits

.Although the awards looked fun and entertaining, there were a few technical errors on stage which made the ceremony seem unprepared. Amongst the celebrities who looked stunning, Nomzamo Mbatha looked dazzling in her bottle-green dress.

Danny-K with his wife Lisa Gundelfinger were the best dressed couple for the evening, simple yet elegant.As always, Bonang was the queen of the night with her beautiful dress whilst Nhlanhla and Theo of Mafikizolo also looked dazzling whilst accepting their awards.
