All systems are up and ready for elections in the Bay.

According to NMMM Regional IEC Supervisor Crosby Thanduxolo Bacela, the Nelson Mndela Bay Municipality is steady and ready for 2014 Elections.The are 247 voting stations within 60 wards that are ready. Bacela said special votes will take place on Monday and Tuesday of 5th and 6th of May and will be strictly conducted for those who applied for it.
On these special dates the voting stations will be open from 9am and only 245 stations will be in operation on these special vote days with a recorded voting number of 6000 voters.
“Special Voters will be responsible for their mode of transport to the voting stations and IEC will not be responsible for that”, said Bacela.Police will be visible to all voting station to secure security, and also all political parties will have their party agents to ensure everything goes well.
The IEC have trained 3500 staff members and 60 area managers under three modules to be able to do their duties. Bacela also emphasised that as the IEC in the metro they are more than ready for elections. Bacela also confirmed that they are working together with the Municipality as some of the buildings that they are using as voting stations are municipality buildings.
Municipal Electoral Officer Mbuyiseli Nimrod Mqulwana confirmed that all municipal buildings will be used for free. Mqulwana also added that the municipality have also secured the safe counting place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
